PEREGRINE FALCON (FALCO PEREGRINUS)

The peregrine falcon is known as a longwing, only to be flown in large open areas, can be flown at rooks, crows and seagulls. It needs an experienced falconer to handle as it is easily lost and like all our falcons and hawks carries a radio transmitter when flown for bird control. The peregrine falcon is a very efficient bird control specialist.

Like the lanner falcon the peregrine has seen great success being flown in landfill sites controlling the large numbers of seagulls scavaging on the tip. Larger than the lanner falcon, the peregrine can tackle the largest gulls present and packs more of a punch. The peregrine is particularly effective at sites like power stations.
